While most of the country is staying home to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus), others need to continue conducting business as usual – and this includes rental property owners and landlords.

So, how can you safely show rental property in Florida to prospective tenants during these challenging times, while still maintaining social distancing requirements?

Here are a few tips:

First and foremost, the use of technology can make marketing your vacancies easy and convenient. With that in mind, if you don’t already have your vacant units listed online – including multiple photos – now is a great time to implement some digital marketing strategies. Doing so can allow prospective renters the ability to check out the inside and the outside of the property before making an appointment to see it in person.

This also includes providing access to downloadable paperwork, such as a rental application and lease. That way, prospective tenants can fill out the needed information without having to do so in person.

If you do have to show a property, there are some other precautions that you can put in place. One is to provide plastic booties for covering shoes. This can help to reduce the chance that COVID-19 viruses (and other health-related germs) will be spread throughout the property.

You can also provide access to hand sanitizer – ideally near the front door – so that everyone can apply it upon entering and exiting the property. In addition, it should go without saying that – at least during this time – shaking hands is a no-no when introducing yourself.

If showing vacancies, making repairs, and managing tenants is taking up too much of your time, bringing a professional property manager on board could be the solution.
